Dieting Motivations

Nop... a bet is not enough motivation to keep me on a diet.

... as well as the blog.

Well, the blog worked a little bit better than the bet, but if you have roomies like mine... I don't think any kind of motivation will be enough.

Major diet busters (Factors that Ruined my Diet):

1. Rimel Anthony - one night after my exercise, he came home with a cake a two tiny add-ons from our favorite pastry shop Sweet Indulgence

It was his birthday, so how could I say no?

2. Jasmine Shiel - She doesn't get fat but she loves ice cream. After eating her dinner she calls out, "Ice Cream, anyone?"

I can't help it... My hand shoots up. Who am I to resist? I know some people who can only eat ice cream during their birthday, and some who can't eat them at all. I am just being thankful for my blessing. It would be sad if those delicious food were wasted. Right?

Ok... ok... enough of the excuses and finger pointing. There is no one else to blame but me.

Conlusion: Give yourself a realistic diet. My exercise and diet does not work, not because it's no good but because I don't have consistency.

The most important thing when you are trying to lose weight is your ATTITUDE.

Mine sucks... but I am trying to change.

CURRENT STATUS: No change ... Still at 49k (the weighing scale pointer dances a bit but not significant enough to register as 48.)

Goal for the coming week: Eat fruits instead of my usual side meals.

I'M STILL KEEPING MY FINGERS CROSSED

Trying to Burn the Carbs

Yesterday, I woke at 8 in the morning but it was already noon when I finally convinced myself to get up and start my day.

My agenda for the day was to iron some clothes, do a bit of laundry, some minor bathroom cleaning, skype with my folks, and the activity that I have dreaming of for a week now... to do some exercise.

For you to understand how much of an effort exercise is to me, just think of this.

There are 24 hours in a day. I spend almost 23 of those hours either sitting or lying down. That means, I only assume the standing position for approximately an hour everyday. This routine is ony disrupted when I go to the mall for some grocery or shopping. Thus, I have acquired this lovely figure...

I used to have quick metabolism so I didn't have any problem with losing weight. I guess I just stopped moving around that is why the belly fat just kept on piling.

Going back to my story...

I read somewhere that beginners should start by walking five to 10 minutes at a time, gradually moving up to at least 30 minutes per session, but since it take 3,500 calories to lose a pound, I need to be more aggressive.

I was so proud of myself yesterday because not only did I jog through 2 episodes of 'Smallville' which is approximately 45 min each (with rest in between of course), I was also able to resist the Snickers bar that was on my bedside table the whole day and thanks to Cheng's goodwill I didn't need to clean the bathroom anymore.

CURRENT STATUS: 49k... still need to lose 4 kilos

Losing 10 lbs. in A Month: How to lose 10 lbs in 26 days?

Losing 10 lbs. in A Month: How to lose 10 lbs in 26 days?

Kuya Rimel's birthday party - a diet pooper

I know I am supposed to go on a diet, but it was the birthday of Kuya Rimel and it was just impossible not to eat a lot.

Menu for the evening:
Pancit - for long life (Filipino noodle dish)
Chicken lumpiang shanghai (a type of egg roll filled with meat)
Menudo (pork and liver with thick tomato sauce)
Gulay with shrimp & sauce (vegetables with shrimp & sauce)
Kinilaw na isda (fish soaked in vinegar until cooked w/o heat)
Chicken Pastel ( I don't think there is an English translation for this - it is chicken with young corn, quail eggs, and milk)
Liempo/Lechon (roasted pork)
Concorde choco & Leche flan for dessert

I told myself that I would go on a diet and jog daily for at least 30 minutes plus do 50 reps of sit ups.

With all the food that I ate last night, it seems like I would need to do sit ups for 100x and jog for an hour.

Summary: 25 days to go before the end of the bet and here is how I look....

How to lose 10 lbs in 26 days?

There are 3 overweights in my apt (that includes me) and after our New Year's Eve dinner, one blurted out "I am going on diet, starting tomorrow"

I told her, "There is no more hope for you so dont even bother"

Of course she disagreed and to cut the long story short, we ended up with a bet of losing 5 kilos in 2 months.

Sad to say, so many temptations came and new pastry shop even opened near our place, so here I am, one month and 4 days after and I have only lost 1 kilo.

What should I do? I can always see myself jogging around at the park after office hours, but alas, it is always just a dream.

I am starting this blog so I can track my daily diet and activities. Plus I hope everytime that my butt is stuck on the sofa, I would think "I need to exercise so I can write it on my blog."
